The first thing I noticed about this install and what the home owner pointed out was the massive corrosion on the venting. The garage is vented to the out doors and not insulted at all. This will cause drastic temperatures on the venting and of coarse internal condensation and then corrosion. The furnace seldom kept their house warm and when it did it was very uneven. They simply where tired of this furnace/system all together.
My suggestion was the American Standard 95% 2 stage variable. Allot of homes are almost 100% flexible ducting. This ducting is 6 times more restrictive than standard sheet metal and if not installed correctly can lead to unbalanced home. The American Standard 2 stage variable can in most cases overcome improper installed ducting, acting like a cruise control in your car when you come up on a hill.
To help out the furnace and home we cut in a new heat run into the front entry, I have no idea why they had no heat run there, but it was needed. We also up sized their family room heat run, it was obvious they needed more heat there as well.
Opinion on price of home Bryant hybrid heat pump and a/c install.?
I am looking at spending $7200 on a Bryant 80% nat. gas furnace upflow, heat pump and a/c install/replacement. It will be a 5 ton 13 seer Legacy series 223ana. New pad, reuse and flush lines, easy access to unit, a short additional return, new thermostat, and condensate pump. This is in NC. Any input is Greatly appreciated.
